The Da Vinci Code is a mystery novel written by Dan Brown. The content repeatedly emphasizes that "history has always been written by winners." The story begins with the main characters, Professor Robert Langdon, and agent Sophie Neveu were accidentally involved in the murder of the curator of the Louvre Museum. Under the guidance of the dead curator using Leonardo da Vinci's paintings as clues, they found out the Christian church has a secret that they don't wish to disclose.
我的观点

The author cleverly combined Western history, religion, symbols and the murder of the curator in the Louvre into an amazing mystery novel. Also, the author’s interpretation of the famous paintings drawn by Da Vinci made me rethink the message that the painter wanted to express. However, it turned out to be that most of the so-called 「historical facts」 in the novel are the stories made up by the author, which I think is more interesting than the 「real history」. I think that is also the reason why this book is so captivating, because it tells a story with a totally different perspective from Bible, and made me want to flip to the next page to find out what happen to the story that I was originally familiar with. Also, the book reshapes my views on taboo issues such as "whether Bible is real or not" and "whether Jesus has descendants", which caused criticism and resistance from the Vatican and Christians upon its release.
In the book, Langdon said: " Every faith in the world is based on fabrication. That is the definition of faith- acceptance of that which we imagine to be true, that which we cannot prove. " I think maybe religion itself is a kind of lie that can be passed down for tens of thousands of years and still be believed by people without being exposed. Whether it is true or not, it has already been muddled by the long passage of time. Even in the 21st century, when science is highly advanced, humans are still unable to prove the truth or falsehood of the events recorded in religious books, such as Bible, no matter how absurd the event may be. These potentially true and potentially false events created a meticulous balance, and then form into religions and give people faith.
So the authenticity of the content in the religious books depends entirely on the believers themselves. For those with firm and devout faith, even if the 「Holy Grail」 itself was a colossal lie, it would not cause any doubt in their belief. When they recite the sacred prayers, they can feel God in their hearts, their souls returning to purity and tranquility, thereby finding solace. However, for those who lack strong faith and only seek religion for escaping from hardship they are experiencing, believing that miracles will eventually come to them as the sole redemption, their faith will collapse instantly when they discover that the long-awaited miracles were merely counterfeit promises of the church. This is also why the secret "Holy Grail" of the Priory of Sion was so destructive to the Christianity of that time.
In my viewpoint, faith and science share a common purpose, which is to strive for understanding the truth. Science is like surgeons using precise instruments to find out the biological reasons of the illness. On the other hand, religion is like psychological therapists, they guide people through the most difficult time of their lives, giving them courage to confront the darkest hour of their lives.
Although religious beliefs contain many unverifiable aspects, and some people still think the whole thing about religious believes is 「deception」 or 「lie」, the positive impacts they have had on humanity over thousands of years cannot be ignored. These 「deception」, which bring people courage, tranquility, blessing, and peace in their hearts, far outweighed the revelation of the 「truth」, which even may be unable to justify. Discovering the truth not only fails to liberate people from suffering, but it may also shatter and vanish even the slightest comfort that faith brings.
Einstein once said, "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind." The world probably cannot run correctly with only one of them.
